Joint Counter-sUAS strategy to address need for improved technology | Article

WASHINGTON — The Department of Defense is slated to release its counter-small unmanned aircraft systems strategy next month, bringing an open-system architecture and enterprise approach to the military’s capabilities. The Army-led Joint C-sUAS Office, or JCO, has worked to align current and future counter-drone technologies to support operational requirements at home and abroad, said Maj. Gen. Sean A. Gainey, the program’s director. The increased threat posed by drones, combined with a lack of dependable networked capabilities to counter the unmanned threat, has created a concerning “tactical development” within U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility, Gainey said, paraphrasing a recent statement made by its commander.Classification of unmanned aircraft systems is divided into five category groups. The defense secretary appointed the Army as the executive agent for counter-small UAS groups one through three, said Col. NEW YORK (Reuters) – Units of Macquarie Group and Siemens AG are forming a venture named Calibrant Energy, that will invest in the emerging energy-as-a-service (EaaS) sector in the United States, according to a joint statement on Monday.

Electricity generation is forecast to increasingly move away from traditional structures involving large fossil fuel-burning power plants, towards localized systems using renewable energy and battery storage, known as distributed energy.

For entities embracing this model, they can choose to ‘outsource’ their power systems to a specialist entity, in the same way firms hire technology platforms rather than develop their own systems – so-called software-as-a-service (SaaS).

Billboard Japan & NTT Data’s Joint Research Predicts Future Hits From Chart Data & Cerebral Information

Billboard Japan and NTT Data/NTT Data Institute of Management Consulting (NTT Data/IMC) partnered on a new project that combines the former’s chart data and the latter’s neuroscientific technology to develop a new way to analyze music trends.

Billboard Japan’s Hot 100 song chart is based on a weighted formula incorporating eight metrics such as CD sales, downloads, streams and Twitter mentions. NTT Data/IMC is a pioneer in the advancement of the brain information business, in part through its development of the “NeuroAI” that predicts the cerebral activity and perceptual content of people viewing moving images. The underlying technology of NeuroAI was adopted by this year’s AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-20).

The collaborative project used technology called “NeuroAI-Music” that simulates the cerebral activity of people listening to music. NeuroAI-Music succeeded in estimating and characterizing the cerebral activity per second of music from audio signals, making it possible to quantitatively extract
