As Delta makes landfall, Southwest Louisiana is still without a working radar

It’s mobile radar to the rescue, and not a moment too soon.

This is the story of how a moving research radar will be helping the Lake Charles, Louisiana, National Weather Service (NWS) outpost, whose radar was broken during Hurricane Laura.

The Lake Charles NWS office and radar are both located at the Lake Charles Regional Airport, which also took a significant hit during Laura.

The radar dome sits on top of an over 60-foot tower, and since wind speeds are often stronger the higher you go up, this likely led to its demise.

The problem is, the radar equipment is still not fixed, and another hurricane arrived Friday night in the the same area

How to watch Louisiana Tech vs. UTEP: NCAA Football live stream info, TV channel, time, game odds

Who’s Playing

UTEP @ Louisiana Tech

Current Records: UTEP 3-1; Louisiana Tech 2-1

What to Know

The UTEP Miners are 0-5 against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs since November of 2015, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Miners’ bye week comes to an end as they meet up with Louisiana Tech at 7:30 p.m. ET at Joe Aillet Stadium. UTEP isn’t expected to win, but seeing as the odds didn’t stop them last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.

Two weeks ago, UTEP turned the game against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 504 yards to 174. Everything went UTEP’s way against Louisiana-Monroe as they made off with a 31-6 win. That 25-point margin sets a new team best for UTEP on the season. UTEP’s RB Deion Hankins was one

Position Grades Against Louisiana Tech

BYU is 3-0 for the first time since 2014. Today, let’s look at every position group and give them a grade for their performance against Louisiana Tech.

Quarterback: A+

Zach Wilson essentially played a perfect game against Louisiana Tech. Wilson accounted for five touchdowns, 325 passing yards, and 43 rushing yards. Wilson is playing quarterback at a level that BYU fans haven’t seen since Max Hall and John Beck.

Running Back: B

Tyler Allgeier played an efficient game on Friday night. Allgeier ran for 93 yards on 10 carries. Katoa was less efficient against the Bulldogs than he was in the first two games – Katoa ran for 23 yards on 11 carries. It’s worth noting that some of Katoa’s best runs were brought back by holding penalti

BYU vs. Louisiana Tech: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Friday’s NCAA Football game

The BYU Cougars have the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at 9 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Both teams are strolling into their contest after big wins in their previous games.

The Cougars ran circles around the Troy Trojans this past Saturday, and the extra yardage (665 yards vs. 157 yards) paid off. BYU took their game at home with ease, bagging a 48-7 win over Troy. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point BYU had established a 38-7 advantage. QB Zach Wilson had a stellar game for BYU as he passed for two TDs and 392 yards on 29 attempts in addition to punching in two rushing touchdowns. Wilson’s 70-yard touchdown toss to WR Dax Milne in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments

Bold Predictions Against Louisiana Tech

BYU is off to a dominant start to the 2020 BYU football season. BYU is a heavy favorite heading into their third game against an undefeated Louisiana Tech team. Here are three bold predictions for tonight’s game:

1. Zach Wilson will throw for 400+ yards

USATSI_14990326_168390393_lowres

Last week, I predicted that Zach Wilson would throw for more than 300 yards against Troy. Turns out, my bold prediction wasn’t bold enough. Louisiana Tech has some questions to answer in their secondary (the Bulldogs have allowed 335 passing yards per game) and Wilson has looked great so far in this young season. This week, I think Wilson will eclipse 400 yards through the air for the first time in his career.

2. Kody Epps will catch his first touchdown

Highly-coveted recruit Kody Epps made his first appearance in a BYU uniform last week. Epps has been quiet through two games – he didn’t
