Apple’s  upcoming virtual product launch will kick off on Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. BST) in Apple Park. We’re mainly expecting to see the iPhone 12, but there’s still hope for some other surprises including Apple’s long-rumored smart tracker tag competitor, thought to be called AirTags.

If AirTags don’t appear at the Oct. 13 event, we could see them at Apple’s rumored November event, when the tech giant is expected to announce the first Mac laptop with Apple Silicon. Otherwise, it might not happen until March 2021, by tech analyst Jon Prosser’s estimations.

Female Retail Brand Founders & National Women’s Small Business Month

October is National Women’s Small Business Month, an initiative focused on promoting female-led business operations.

In 2020, this month-long spotlight on female business owners is especially important, as recent reports show the impact of the pandemic has been dramatic on women in the workforce: Many aged 25 to 54 have stepped out of the professional environment to care for children and family.

Despite this year’s challenges, the 2019 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report indicated upward growth in the world of female-helmed businesses.

Findings from the research indicate there are nearly 13 million women-owned businesses in the US that employ 9.4 million people and generate $1.9 trillion in sales.

Additionally, women-owned businesses grew 21% between 2014 to 2019, while businesses owned by women of color doubled that growth rate: As of 2019, women of color accounted for 50% of all women who owned businesses.

Within the retail and direct-to-consumer sector,

Last Month Warmest September On Record Globally: EU

Earth’s surface was warmer last month than during any September on record, with temperatures since January tracking those of the hottest ever calendar year in 2016, the European Union’s Earth Observation Programme said Wednesday.

This year has now seen three months of record warmth — January, May and September — with June and April virtually tied for first, the Copernicus Climate Change Service reported.

“There is currently little difference between 2020 and 2016 for the year-to-date,” Copernicus senior scientist Freja Vambourg told AFP.

For the 12-month period through September, the planet was nearly 1.3 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

That is alarmingly close to the 1.5C threshold for severe impacts detailed in a major 2018 report by the UN’s climate science advisory panel, the IPCC.

The Paris Agreement has enjoined nations to cap global warming at “well below” 2C, and 1.5C if feasible.

2020 has thus far seen three record-warm months -- January, May and September -- with two others, June and April, virtually tied for first 2020 has thus far seen three record-warm

Taiwan September exports seen up for third month in row

TAIPEI (Reuters) – Taiwan’s exports likely rose for a third straight month in September, up 6.6% from a year earlier as people bought electronic goods to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a median forecast of 12 analysts polled by Reuters.

Taiwan is one of Asia’s major exporters, especially of technology goods, and its export trends are a key gauge of demand for tech gadgets worldwide. Its largest trading partner is China.

Forecasts ranged widely between a growth of 3.8% and 21.6% in the midst of uncertainties over the coronavirus outbreak that has disrupted global supply chains and sent major economies into recession.

Taiwan’s exports have been helped by demand for laptops and tablets to support the work-from-home trend during the pandemic that has forced millions around the world to

LRD is proud supporter of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). > U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters > Story Article View

CINCINNATI– (Oct. 1, 2020) – October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an observance tied to the Army’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce. The theme, “Increasing Access and Opportunity,” promotes educating employees and hiring authorities about disability employment issues and celebrating the many and varied contributions of workers with disabilities.

“Emphasis should be on the point that people with disabilities are typically creative problem solvers; they must be able to navigate a world historically designed for people without disabilities,” noted Jennifer Sheehy, deputy assistant secretary, of the Army’s Office of Disability Employment Policy.

In 1945, Congress declared the first week of October “National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week.” In 1962, the word “physically” was dropped to include individuals with all types of disabilities. Congress expanded the week to a month in 1988 and changed the commemoration to National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

This year marks not only the

Is October Usually A Good Month?

Investor’s Business Daily has recently published an article that may have put Apple investors at ease. According to them, the market has a reputation for performing poorly in October, a month that just started this past Thursday. But when it comes to Apple, the story is different.

IBD has looked back five years and noticed that shares of the Cupertino company have been a top eight October performer among all S&P 500 names. This sounds encouraging. But to me, five years seem like too short a time frame to draw firm conclusions upon. So, I went further back in time: to Apple’s IPO year of 1980.

October has been phenomenal

The histogram below illustrates Apple’s performance in October only. The x-axis depicts the return buckets, and each bar represents the number of months that have fallen within each bucket. Below are some key observations:
