If you’re a fan of LG’s dual-screen Wing phone, Verizon will start selling it on Oct. 15th for $999.
Verizon plans on becoming the first US carrier to offer the unique product, which contains a second screen that can swivel out of the smartphone.
Introduced last month, the LG Wing may look pretty ridiculous at first glance. However, PCMag had a chance to try out the product, and we actually found it’s pretty great for multi-tasking. The device itself is basically a normal smartphone. But when you swivel out the second display, you can get more screen space.
The key benefit is how the dual screens can enable you to have one app open on the top screen, and another app open on the bottom. In Wing mode, the phone can also easily capture wide-angle photos.
However, when phone was first unveiled, LG remained mum on the pricing. So we weren’t sure if the product would carry a high price tag or not. Fortunately, the LG Wing won’t be arriving at an insane $1,400 to $2,000 like Samsung’s foldable phone devices.
Tomorrow, Verizon plans on kicking off pre-orders for the LG Wing, which will also be available at $41.66 over a 24 month period.
The LG Wing will arrive with support for Verizon’s 5G network. But it’s important to note the carrier’s 5G availability remains pretty sparse across the US, although Verizon is working to expand the coverage.
Verizon is also offering a special deal on the LG Wing: The company will give interested customers $1,000 in in-store credit and gift cards over a two-year period if they switch over to the carrier’s network and trade in an eligible existing smartphone. However, the customers will still need to pay $999 as an upfront cost.
That all said, LG told PCMag it plans on bringing the product to all three major carriers in the US later this year. Stay tuned for our review of the product where we’ll go over whether the $999 device is worth it.
