Halo Infinite, A Game With No Release Date, Is Still Leading Xbox Series X Marketing

If “Better with Kinect” was the great misstep of the Xbox One launch, it seems more and more like a similar issue, albeit not on the same level perhaps, is Microsoft relying so heavily on Halo Infinite making it out for the Xbox Series X/S launch.

In the last two days we have seen promotion for the Series X ramp up. There’s a new TV spot for the console starring Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya, and Series X boxes have been spotted in the wild making their way to retailers.

What do both have in common? Master Chief is heavily focused on in the ad, and he makes up the entire back of the box.

It’s very clear just how much Microsoft was banking on Halo Infinite making it out for the Series X launch, and now that it isn’t, and does not in fact even have a

Don’t Miss Your Socially Distanced Date With Mars

Stargazers perk up — Mars is getting big and bright the coming week, as the sun, Earth and Mars line up close to a new moon on the night of Oct. 13.

The event that happens about every two years is called “opposition” in astronomy terms: the sun and Mars on opposite sides of Earth. From the earthling’s perspective, according to NASA, Mars rises in the east just as the sun sets in the west, and would stay up in the sky the whole night, setting in the west just as the sun rises.

Because we’re seeing the whole dayside of the red planet the whole week, it’s going to be ideal for viewing, writes Mikhail Kreslavsky, assistant research planetary scientist at University of California, Santa Cruz, in an email to NPR.

And because this year’s opposition is also close to the new moon, Mars will shine brighter without moonlight

Apple may reveal iPad Air shipment date during ‘iPhone 12’ event

Apple may use Tuesday’s “Hi, Speed” event to tell potential buyers of the new iPad Air when they can purchase the tablet, weeks after the company launched the model during its “Time Flies” event.

During the first “Time Flies” special event on September 15, Apple introduced a redesigned iPad Air, but aside from telling customers it would be available sometime in October, an exact date wasn’t offered during the presentation. With the second Apple event looming, it is suggested Apple may advise of when the tablet will actually go on sale.

According to serial leaker Jon Prosser on Twitter, Apple “will give you the launch date of iPad Air during the October 13th event.” Given the lack of date from Apple itself for its release, it seems plausible a public event will include an update on shipment dates.

Fortnite: Epic Games vs. Apple Trial Date Set, Won’t Use Jury

A trial date has been set for Epic Games vs. Apple following an extended and public disagreement over the latter company’s alleged monopolization of iOS digital marketplaces. Epic Games initially filed suit immediately after Fortnite was removed from the App Store for violating its payment rules.

The case will be held as a bench trial, meaning there will be no jury, and begins on May 3, 2021. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the court has not yet decided whether the trial will be held in-person or virtually. The decision to use a bench trial was also influenced by the pandemic, as a backlog of jury trial cases would have pushed it into next summer.

Epic Games has argued that by not allowing outside companies to run their own digital stores on iOS devices, Apple has effectively created a monopoly. It takes a sizeable portion of every digital profit on the
