WISeKey’S AIoT SOLUTIONS OFFER THE BEST PROTECTION AGAINST CYBER ATTACKS ON CONNECTED CARS

Geneva, October 13, 2020 – WISeKey International Holding Ltd. (“WISeKey” NASDAQ: WKEY; SIX Swiss Exchange: WIHN), cybersecurity delivering AIoT Integrated Security Platforms, today announced that its cybersecurity offering (hardware and software platform) for connected cars addresses safety and security issues arising from system vulnerabilities.

WISeKey entered the connected cars security segment in 2019 when Daimler AG started to use its technology to validate the authenticity of different vehicle components, protect onboard communication between vehicle components and provide over-the-air software updates. The automotive industry is facing a major cybersecurity challenge due to digitalization: Big Data coming from multiple connected sources in the car including its operating system is only getting larger and more complex, making it increasingly difficult for connected cars manufacturers to analyze and protect the connected car against cyber threats. The best way to cut through

University of Nottingham Ningbo China Scholar Earns Patent for Intellectual Property Protection in 3D Printing

Hing Kai Chan, Professor of Operations Management at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), and his team recently gained authorisation from the National Intellectual Property Office for the patent “Digital watermarking method for 3D printing models”. The new patent tracks and protects intellectual property in 3D printing.

“The toughest problem in 3D printing is not technology, but the protection of intellectual property,” Professor Chan introduces. At present, the anti-counterfeiting of 3D printing model is mainly achieved by embedding digital watermark into triangular mesh data, but not all the model files are in triangular mesh format, and the embedded digital watermark may be lost in printing and manufacturing.

The model invented by Professor Chan’s team uses the algorithm to transform the 3D spatial matrix similarity problem into 2D image matching problem with high accuracy in the detection result. Moreover, the digital watermark is almost invisible to the naked eye, which

Covid protection: Blue Star launches new ACs with virus deactivation technology

AC major Blue Star Limited on Wednesday announced the launch of a range of new products and solutions with the Virus Deactivation Technology (VDT), which the company said can deactivate viruses, including Covid-19, with up to 99.9 per cent efficacy when air passes through these systems. This is a bid to provide additional protection against the virus in air-conditioned spaces, the company said.

There would be a total of 17 such new AC models. The VDT will have one of the following components, the ‘livinguard filter’ or the ‘UVC emitters’. The ‘Livinguard’, which can be incorporated in the ACs at a price of ₹2,000, filter attracts the negatively charged viruses including Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) and other microbes, like a powerful magnet, and completely deactivates them when air passes through this filter, the company claimed. The Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation or UVGI technology can be incorporated in the ACs for ₹4,000. The UVC

I know dashcams are popular for a number of reasons but never really understood exactly how useful they are until I saw one in action. Last week a biker hit my pal’s car head-on while he was at a stoplight. While the footage was unpleasant it helped him and the police see exactly where the guy came from and how he cut across lanes of traffic and just didn’t even seen that the light was red and traffic was stopped. This morning you can grab this Vava 1080P 3″ Dashcam and protect you and those around you no matter where you travel.

Britain, Canada, EU throw weight behind 2030 biodiversity protection goal

BRUSSELS/LONDON (Reuters) – Britain and Canada on Monday joined the European Union in pledging to protect 30% of their land and seas by 2030 to stem “catastrophic” biodiversity loss and help galvanise support for broader agreement on the target ahead of a U.N. summit.

With the twin crises of climate change and wildlife loss accelerating, leaders are trying to build momentum ahead of the meeting in Kunming, China, in May, where nearly 200 countries will negotiate a new agreement on protecting nature.

“We must act now – right now. We cannot afford dither and delay because biodiversity loss is happening today and it is happening at a frightening rate. Left unchecked, the consequences will be catastrophic for us all,” British Prime Minister Boris

Digital Risk Protection Platform Market to Witness Strong Demand from the SMEs During 2020-2030, Says Future Market Insights

DUBAI, UAE, Sept. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Future Market Insights (FMI) anticipates the global digital risk protection platforms market to surge at a stellar CAGR of 10.1% during the assessment period 2020-2030. Extensive usage across several end-use industries, across nations, has prompted escalating digital connectivity, lack of awareness about cyber-attacks, fragile regulations, and rising cross-border data exchange. Any form of a data breach can prove to be disastrous for an organization’s long-term survival, this has compelled organizations to invest in sturdy digital risk protection platforms.

Protection needed for emerging mining hotspots

Growing demand for metals necessary for the transition to a low carbon future will lead to more mining in high-risk areas, according to University of Queensland research.

Dr. Éléonore Lèbre and researchers from UQ’s Sustainable Minerals Institute identified mining “hotspots” by looking at areas where competition over mining resources such as water and land is likely to negatively impact surrounding communities.

“Past research has raised concerns about the environmental, social and governance pressures that come from increased mining but they have never assessed the risks on a global scale using quantitative data,” Dr. Lèbre said.

“By applying seven categories of risk—three environmental, three social and one governance indicator—we were able to map where these mining hotspots would exist and the metals involved. All the metals we analyzed are necessary for the transition to a low-carbon future. Some
