Spotify threatening developers over apps that transfer playlists to other services

Developers who provide the ability to transfer Spotify playlists to Apple Music, or other services, are reportedly being told their access to the Spotify SDK will be revoked.

As it continues to say Apple “threatens our collective freedoms to listen, create, and connect,” Spotify has allegedly begun notifying developers that they can no longer transfer playlists to other services. SongShift reports that it has been told to cease such transfers or risk losing access to the Spotify SDK.

“The Spotify Developer Platform Team reached out and let us know we’d need to remove transferring from their service to a competing music service or have our API access revoked due to TOS [terms of service] violation,” announced SongShift in a blog post.

“While this is not the news we wanted to hear, we respect their decision,” it continued. As of the next release, SongShift v5.1.2, Spotify transfers will end. “This

Brooklyn bishop questions state decision to limit attendance at Sunday services

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, standing Saturday outside a 550-seat Catholic church, criticized the state-imposed COVID-19 cap of 10 worshippers for Mass in his diocese.

“We believe this blanket prohibition against using our churches doesn’t make any sense,” he told reporters outside St. Pancras Catholic Church in Queens. “We believe it’s a misunderstanding of the situation.”

DiMarzio spoke hours after a Brooklyn federal judge offered sympathy but no support for the diocese’s lawsuit seeking to reverse the restrictions ordered by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The bishop said the churches would close down rather than hold Sunday services with one priest and a congregation of nine.

U.S. District Judge Eric Komitee, in a Friday night decision, upheld Cuomo’s crackdown on religious services in several “hot spot” Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods with significant upticks in coronavirus cases.

Komitee called it a “difficult decision,” noting a Friday CNN appearance where Cuomo flatly

Opendoor: A Play On The Future Of Real Estate Services (NYSE:IPOB)

Source: Opendoor Brand Assets

Opendoor recently became publicly traded through a merger with the SPAC, Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings II (NYSE: IPOB). In my opinion, IPOB, and Opendoor by extension, offers an excellent play on the disruption of the real estate industry. Opendoor has demonstrated product-market fit, improving unit economics, and a business model that can scale at a high growth rate.

The company’s sales grew ~150% yoy in 2019, and while the pandemic has led to a major contraction in home sales in the past quarter, the overall housing market appears to have mostly recovered to pre-pandemic activity as of August. Given the SPAC merger and other private funding, Opendoor has accumulated enough financial ammunition to continue tackling their proclaimed trillion-dollar market opportunity with some vigour. The company has the potential to become the dominant marketplace for house sales throughout the country and is worth an investment at the
